Grocery Shopping & Menu Plan

Grocery Shopping

Due to my two forthcoming trips (both in February), I am really watching my spending this month. I have come to realise that if I want to stay within my grocery budget, not only do I have to be in control of my grocery bill, but I should also meal plan. So today, I thought I’d share what I bought and what my meal plan looks like for next week (note: I am on a low-calorie diet next week). Here is what I bought today – Food 15 eggs                                         £1.35 black olives                               £1.32 Heinz soup x3                         £3.00 […]

Dilemma: Bus or Underground?

When I started actively paying off my debt six months ago, I had to significantly cut down on my day-to-day expenses to free up as much cash as I could. Long gone are my morning lattes, beauty and fashion magazine subscriptions, express manicures during my lunch hour, afternoons at fancy hair salons, dinners at exclusive London restaurants to name a few… all gone. It was time to learn the art of frugal living. To cut back even more, I moved out of my expensive riverside London flat that cost me 42% of my basic take home pay every month and […]

My Christmas on a Budget

Since we are fast approaching Christmas and it is December already, I thought I’d make this post a festive one I love Christmas! There’s something in the air around this time of the year that gets me all excited. I don’t normally go home for Christmas for a number of reasons, instead I celebrate in the UK. This year is not going to be different. Oh wait… it is  different! I am on a budget. Does this mean no Christmas celebrations this year? Hell no! This girl is ready to party! On a budget, that is, and I’ve got a […]

Fear to Spend Money

My friend from Moscow has been staying with me this week. I didn’t take any days off work to spend more time with N (simply because I have used all my paid holiday allocation for this year) but I would meet her after work, and we would usually go to a nice restaurant for dinner. Eating out in London can be pretty cheap, but not when you eat out every single night. Things add up fairly quickly and before you know it you’ve spent a ton of money. Although I was financially prepared for N’s visit because I set aside […]

Weekend Link Love #2

Weekend Link Love

Happy Friday, friends! How is your week going? I’ve had a great week so far. My friend arrived from Moscow on Wednesday and has been staying with me since. The last time I saw her was back in February when we went to the Venice Carnival, so you can imagine how happy I was to get to see her again. My spending has been a bit out of control this week but this is something I knew was going to happen with my friend in town! We have been eating out every evening and I have finally had the pleasure […]

A Little Confession about Blogging

New website

There is something you should know about me. I love my sleep. As in really, really  love my sleep. I am not a morning person and getting up in the morning is torture for me. It takes me at least two cups of coffee and a busy commute to the office to finally feel half-awake. I also hate going to bed late. I must get at least 8 hours of sleep every night; this is my bare minimum to feel content. Ideally, it should be 10. If I don’t get enough sleep, my day is wasted. I will be tired, grumpy, […]
