Budget Update: April 2016

Budget Update Girl Counting Pennies

Back in April, I shared our family budget on the blog for the very first time. The reason I choose to share our budget publicly is because sharing it on the blog helps me stay accountable and spend less. Our family budget is fairly strict and there isn’t much wiggle room. That said, we know that we can stay within each category without depriving ourselves of anything. On Saturday, I finally sat down to add up the numbers for April. Our fixed expenses include rent, utility and mobile phone bills. We decided to spread the costs of our annual bills […]

Life Lately

Life

It’s been a long week. On Wednesday I had to suffer through a wisdom tooth extraction and that, my friends, was not fun at all! I won’t bore you with the details, I will just say that 72 hrs after the extraction were a complete nightmare. Luckily, I am taking antibiotics and they are working! I haven’t been able to eat much at all. I can only manage to eat mashed potatoes, soups and yogurt. The rest is a no-no. I have lost 2 kg in the process and have still got plenty of food in my fridge and freezer. […]

My Spending Report for Jan-Jun 2014

Spending Report

As you may know, I keep track of every penny that goes in and out of my hands. I have a spreadsheet where I write down every purchase I make on a daily basis. I then add my spending together and group it into such categories as groceries, entertainment, travel, etc to get a better understanding of where my money is going. I then publish my monthly spending report on the blog for the whole world to see 😛 Today, I have added together my numbers for June and I thought it would be fun to add all numbers for […]

April & May 2014 Spending Report

Spending Report

Happy Thursday, beautiful people! 😛 I have finally managed to sit down and add up my spending for April and May. I won’t lie, both months have been quite expensive, but hey, it happens! I am watching my spending closely in June (having spent just over £10 so far this week!) so fingers crossed, my June numbers will not be as scary as the ones you can see below! Transportation: Every year I get an annual travel card through work. My employer pays for it and then I pay the whole amount back within the course of 10 months interest […]

Monthly Spending Report: March 2014

Spending Report

March was a fairly expensive month for me. Having spent quite a bit of cash in January and February, I was going to have a financial detox in March (a girl can dream, right? 😉 ). I had a total of £250 set aside to spend as follows: food (£100), personal care items (£25) and entertainment (£125). Looking at the figures below, you will see that I stayed within my food budget, but went over my personal care budget and overspent in the entertainment category. Not to mention all the spending in other categories. Scary stuff! I think that my […]

Monthly Spending Report: February 2014

Spending Report

One of my financial goals for 2014 was to track down my spending on a monthly basis. When I started this blog in May 2013, I was tracking down my spending on a weekly basis. I would occasionally add my weekly numbers together to see what the total was for the month. This year though, I want to know my figures for each month, but most of all, I want to know what I live off annually and what exactly I spend my hard earned cash on. I have shared my January spending report with you last month. It is […]
